Jordan Releases Zarqawi’s Obi Wan

AMMAN (Reuters) – Jordanian authorities on Wednesday released Jordanian Sheikh Abu Mohammad al-Maqdisi, thumb a leading al-Qaeda mentor, sale after several years imprisonment without trial, healing security sources said. They said Maqdisi, who was regarded as the spiritual mentor of slain al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, had been in solitary confinement since he was rearrested in July 2005 following his acquittal at a trial of al Qaeda sympathizers.

The militant Jihadi shared a cell block with Zarqawi for four years between 1995 and 1999. Both were freed in an amnesty. Zarqawi later went to Afghanistan then Iraq. U.S. intelligence officials say Maqdisi is a major Jihadi mentor who wields more influence over Islamist ideology than leading militants such as Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri.

A study by a private think tank of the U.S. military academy West Point in 2006 described Maqdisi, a self-taught religious intellectual, as the most influential living Islamist mentor.[source]

  • I didn’t mean to get on your case, I’m sorry.

You know, that’s what happens to computer folks when they go watch a hackers movie or something like that they find the things that no one even cares to know about! I just happen to be a star wars fan (that probably explains why I’m single! :))

May the force be with you Nas.

  • Qwaider, the Americans are the clone armies . Sharon would be Palpatine.
I’m sure you’ll find some nice padme that likes your light saber, just don’t go darth vader on us!

lol sorry Nas, such analogies bring out the weirdos 😀

  • Man, talk about some people who need more work and less time on their hands :). (teehee)

I saw this too Nas, thanks for blogging it. I did find it interesting that they were full of the news of the release with no one venturing opinions about what it will mean to Al-Qaida. Maybe they’ve finally decided to leave fortune telling to the professionals…

  • We can’t just keep blaming the staff at the Prince Hamzah Hospital, that would be no brainer and it is not going to diagnose the problem not only at this notorious hospital but all public hospitals in Jordan. Most bloggers have directed their anger at the hospital staff and how incompetent the staff are,and while I agree that some of the blame should be directed at the staff and their managers but that is not going to solve the problems that our hospitals are facing.
Last time when we discussed what Hussein’s father faced at Hamazaha hospital,I told him Iam willing to send 500 dollars to start a fund to bring a law suit against the hospital ,but lots of people convinced him other wise ,hoping that replacing and firing staff is going to solve this on going dilemma in our hospital.
My solution is bring a law suit against this incompetent government and Ministry of Health..
