“There’s hidden sweetness in the stomach’s emptiness.
We are lutes.
No more, no less.
If the soundbox is stuffed full of anything…
no music.
If the brain and belly are burning clean
with fasting, every moment
a new song
comes out
of
the
fire.
– Jelaluddin Rumi (1207 – 1273)
It seems you are one of those who enjoy Ramadan. For me I just cave in away from the streets until the month is over and life goes back to normal. I just hate the chaos and consumerism associated with the Jordanian Ramadan. Hey, I may blog about this later today!
Batir, can you check your nets (email) account!
Hi Batir,
Surprisingly and unfortunatly, this is the case not only in Jordan. I live in London and went to the Algerian butcher yesterday to get stuff for Ramadan, the queue at the till took aroung 30 minutes!!!! Somehow we have misread the meaning of Ramadan!
Allahhhhhhh 3ala Rumi… I wish I can feel that way when I fast 😉
