It’s been awhile since I’ve talked music and uploading songs to the radio has been a hassle in my past life so the resolution these days is to merely have a play list.
Since coming to Jordan I’ve forgotten how musically starved a soul can become as it’s almost cut off from the mainstream musical world. At least the one I’m accustomed to. And I can’t depend on Jordanian radio stations who for some reason love to play only top 10 hits and then all seem to switch to techno music after 11pm. Who the heck listens to techno after dark? And I thought techno died in 1999?
Anyways, as it has been a while there are a bunch of accumulated songs that I’ve been listening to in the past month. The gloominess and strangeness of December usually conjures up a melancholy manifested in both sides of the musical spectrum: the softer melodies and the louder variety. At least for me; maybe it’s the weather. I’ve whittled down the list to these 13 gems that are worth listening to…
Hard Candy:
The Kill – 30 Seconds To Mars
From Yesterday – 30 Seconds To Mars
Beg – Evans Blue
Cold – Evans Blue
Headspin – Rockstar Supernova
Keep Holding On – Avril Lavigne
Rootless Trees – Damien Rice
Gummy Bears:
Vienna – The Fray
All I Need – Mat Kearney
9 Crimes – Damien Rice
Crosses – Jose Gonzalez
Like a Star – Corrine Bailey Rae
My Dcmbr – Linkin Park
p.s. DO check out Damien Rice’s “9” album if you haven’t already.

Have you heard of the Decemberists ? You probably have… they are interesting and weird ..the kind of weird you’d like
I have to check out damien’s new album ..i have not listened to anything new
In December i listened to The Decemberists for the first time
In October i re-overdosed on Blue October ..cause it’s october..a blue one
ah yes, it’s been awhile since i gave them a listen. i like “the crane wife 3” and “here i dreamt i was an architect”. the lyrics to most of the songs are simply uncanny.
