Except for the US running interference the UN has been trying to condemn Israel left and right for its attacks on Lebanon. Today, in a bitter dose of irony, Israel responded to the criticism by showing the UN some much needed love…
Israeli bomb kills UN observers
Four United Nations peacekeepers have been killed in an Israeli air strike on an observation post in south Lebanon. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he was “shocked” at the “apparently deliberate targeting” of the post. Israel has expressed “deep regret”.
The UN in Lebanon says the Israeli air force destroyed the observer post, in which four military observers were sheltering.…It (UN) said the four, from Austria, Canada, China and Finland, had taken shelter in a bunker under the post after it was earlier shelled 14 times by Israeli artillery. A rescue team was also shelled as it tried to clear the rubble.
“I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces of a UN Observer post in southern Lebanon,” Mr Annan said in a statement from Rome.
Unifil has been operational in the border area since 1978 and is currently 2,000 strong. [source]
Shocked! Shocked I say! To discover there’s gambling going on in this establishment!
The bombs came wrapped in red bows and messages scrawled on the side, reading: “Say Hello To Resolution 242!”
Nas:
This is a “message” from Israel to the UN. The message says that “we will NOT accept a UN force”, and the receipients are the countries meeting in Rome to deliberate Lebanon.
Israel said clearly it will only accept a force that is friendly to its gains, not a neutral one like the UN. Very dirty tactics, a terrorist method par excellance.
This is typical. The spot was clearly marked as a UN location. But that doesnt matter, just like the ambulances that Israel has destroyed, both are a clear war crime, but of course no one is willing to call Israel on it.
Peace Nas
wishing you well in terrible times.
I’ve got a bad feeling about all this
take care.
Actually, it was because Hezbollah was using the UN post as a shield: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=37278180-a261-421d-84a9-7f94d5fc6d50
Which goes along with them using hospitals, mosques, and villages for launching rockets. They know their own civilians will die and they don’t care, since it’ll show how “brutal” the Israelis are.
I was reminded of something Golda Meir said a long, long time ago: “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” 30 years on and there are far too few Arabs who love their children.
RocketRay:
– This piece of news didn’t find its way to mainstream newspapers, so I dare to say it is very unreliable (especially that, as you notice, there is only once witness who might as well be fabricating something)
– Hizballah have the right to fight anywhere inside their country. Dont put the defender and aggresor on the same moral footing.
– I also remind you that Israel terrorizes UN personnel, or ordinary residents of the South, to get them to do her dirty business of confronting Hizballah. Israel here was forcing the UN to stand up to Hizballah by threatening the UN 10 times. The UN, you might want to know, isn’t Israel’s rubbish collector, even though it is make up of gentiles.
– I am veru skeptical of anything in the newspapers that is pro-Israel because we all know the extend of the Israeli propganda/media control in the West. It is ironic that the more the media is pro-Israel, the less credible it is, except in the eyes of Israel and its supporters of course. Eventually, Israel’s propganda program spins lies that only its supporters believe. This is pretty idiotic.
Now this story might or might not be correct, but on my scale, it is more unreliable than otherwise. Now please dont get us links from newspapers like ‘Chicago Sun’ or ‘Newyork Post’ as proof. Get us something solid so we can argue this.

…and we didn’t have to dig deep to find that ‘Ottawa Citizen’ is owned by ‘CanWest Global’, which is not at all an objective media outlet on the Middle East. Read this:
http://www.canadiandemocraticmovement.ca/displayarticle446.html
Read this excrept:
“One of the world’s leading news agencies, Reuters, said CanWest newspapers have been altering words and phrases in stories dealing with the war in Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Reuters told CBC News it would complain to CanWest about the issue.
The global managing editor for Reuters, David Schlesinger, called such changes unacceptable. He said CanWest had crossed a line from editing for style to editing the substance and slant of news from the Middle East.”
So please, either get a reliable source, or dont bother waste our time.
Do you define “objective” as “anti-Israel”?
Hizballah have the right to fight anywhere inside their country. Dont put the defender and aggresor on the same moral footing.
Hezbollah doesn’t have the right to fire rockets into Israel indiscriminately. Something they’ve been doing for years, or do you deny that?
The problem is that Arabs support anyone who “stands up” to Israel or the West, the US in particular. Remember the Gulf war, when Saddam fired scuds at Israel? Who showed up in Baghdad to give Saddam a big hug? Yes sir, it was Yasser. And which nation was supporting the PA the most? The US. Don’t you see how stupid that is?
Look at the cartoon controversy. A Danish newspaper publishes a dozen bad cartoons, and months later radical imams make it a big deal. How many muslims were killed in rioting? Over a fscking cartoon? And Denmark was largely supportinve of the Palestinian cause, until they saw their embassy burned in Lebanon. Arabs have a great way of shooting themselves in the foot.
Arabs and muslims need to stand up for what’s right, period. Hezbollah is not right, they are a terrorist organization (like Hamas) which has the goal of eradicating the state of Israel. Get it through your heads: Israel is not going down without a very disproportionate catastrophe being borne by its enemies. Your choices are ongoing death and destruction, the destruction of Israel and a large portion of the muslim world, or accepting a peaceful solution with Israel. All of this kidnapping and rockets and suicide bombing just ends up costing Arabs and muslims more than the “Joooz”.
Was just introduced to this website: http://www.arabsforisrael.com/
Finally, a voice of reason amongst the hatred.
“Hezbollah doesnâ??t have the right to fire rockets into Israel indiscriminately. Something theyâ??ve been doing for years, or do you deny that?”
hmmm, lets see.
Hizballah:
– highly inaccurate rockets
– low civilian to combatant kill ratio
Israel:
– state of the art weapons, laser guided bombs, “surgical strikes”
weird, half of my comment was chopped off when i submitted it :S
anyway,
Israel:
– state of the art weapons, laser guided bombs, “surgical strikes”
– very high civilian to combatant kill ratio
I can’t say that Hizballah doesn’t shoot indiscriminately, because their rockets don’t allow them but to shoot indiscriminately. It’s not a function of their strategy as much as it is a function of the weapons they’re using. Israel has been making statements that the weapons they’re using on Lebanon “don’t violate any international law”. I wonder if there’s a law against using katyusha’s. I personally think it makes sense to have such a law if they’re highly inaccurate weapons.
Israel on the other hand does bomb Lebanon indiscriminately. With all their commando forces, their smart bombs and laser guided missiles, F-16’s and all that, they still manage to kill hundreds of civilians and destroy hundreds of homes and residential areas. They destroy civilian infrastructure, roads, bridges, airports, fuel depots. They not only choose to kill civilian life, but also hinder the progress of whatever is left of it.
It would be interesting to know how Hizballah would choose to use such advanced weapons if they were ever made available to them. Will they use such weapons to target Israel indiscriminately like Israel does in Lebanon today, or will they only use them against the Israeli forces.

“Do you define â??objectiveâ? as â??anti-Israelâ?Â?”
Take a hike, will you? I heard this line so many times I am at the point of vomiting. Is this an alternative version to the “you’re anti-semitic” whenever anyone criticizes Israel?
and,
http://www.arabsforisrael.com,
is this site hosted on the same server in Israel as:
http://www.all4lebanon.com
with a satellite phone contact number to mask the country to which the phone call is made?
“Arabs and muslims need to stand up for whatâ??s right, period. Hezbollah is not right”
Moralizing are we? Do that on an Israeli blog so they can read it between killing children.
And what is “jooz”? I think the list of terms memorized is failing you here.
