Did Jesus Walk on Ice?

I don’t buy it…

â??Rare conditions could have conspired to create hard-to-see ice on the Sea of Galilee that a person could have walked on back when Jesus is said to have walked on water, a scientist said today. [source]â?

  • Yea, some people can’t handle miracles interrupting their controlled lives. Thanks for your positive take on it!

  • and the ice was there just for him just for that short time he walked and then it disappeared..?I don’t mind scientific studies analyzing religion but ..please give me something I can believe!

  • I strongly agree with salam if you want to believe this then explain why did it happen in that particular moment at the right time and the right place? if other people cant see it as you say how did he see the ice and decided to walk on it while others couldnt see it existed ? No matter how you look at it , it is a miracle.

  • “We simply explain that unique freezing processes probably happened in that region only a handful of times during the last 12,000 years,”

    1) That in itself is a miracle isn’t it?
    2) How did Jesus, who is from a hot dry desert area, know he could walk on this “mass of ice”?
    3) when the others saw jesus walking on the ice, did any of them try it?

  • According to the Biblical account, Jesus walked out on the water and joined his disciples in the middle of a ferocious storm. The waves were so rough, in fact, that the group of experienced fishermen were scared for their lives. In such a situation, it is doubtful that there were chunks of ice floating about, especially considering that they were 5-6 kilometers from shore.

Fad, also according to Biblical accounts, Peter did try it. He requested to walk out towards Jesus on the water. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to stay on top. As soon as he was distracted by the storm, he became afraid and began to sink. Perhaps he fell through a hole in the ice (sic)?

  • Well, yesterday I’ve discussed this with a prof, we are in the process of stdying his claims!

We will try to model the whole scenario…so we have to write a program with lots of parameters, like the water temperature, density and other properties at that period and altitude, the size of the ice, the distance Jesus traveled , speed, was he wearing sandals, barefoot.

I mean if he started surfing this ice chunk from shore, by the time he reached them it should have melted, of course it depends on its size, cruising speed, body mass,etc..well it sounds like an interesting Thermodynamics and Fluids exam question!

FAD a hot dry desert area
Galilee is not a desert and it does occasionally snow there in winter.

Anyways what really suprises me that such things make headlines, but other stories….So some guy say that Jesus was married it makes headlines, or when someone claim that they have found the bones of Jesus brother it makes headlines, but when they actually discover that the guy was a liar and forged the whole thing, it barely makes news.

What happened to that theory that claims that the salty water of Galilee sea amde him float? Now the guy who came up with this stunning discovery based it on his own experience when he was visiting the Dead Sea. Of course the sea of Galilee is not the dead sea and it’s not salty at all! It’s like those foreigners ” Yeah you are from Jordan?Cool I’ve actually been in the neighborhood , I’ve been to Libya so I know how Jordan looks like.”

I bit you this “scientist” was a cab driver at some point, I mean who else can come up with such thought?
