Blog Action Day 2008 | Join The Conversation

Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. [source]

I have to admit. That’s a beautiful summary of what it’s all about. I was a big fan of the project when it came out last year with a focus on the environment and, God willing, I’ll be around to join it once again, this year, for a global discussion about poverty. I love ideas that attempt to utilize new media, in any shape or form, to do something positive. The term “global discussion” is what I feel is important here. There are universal issues that we face in a very individualist manner, such as the environment and, this year’s topic, poverty. To join that global discussion is to make that problem more universal; more human.

The impact of thousands of people attempting to direct a conversation on a single day is an overwhelming force that clearly demonstrates just how powerful blogging can be.

So if you’re a Jordanian blogger, I encourage you to register your blog today and join the discussion on October 15th.
