Loud noises. People laughing. Fire blazing. People crying. Cars honking. People cheering. Flags waving. People dancing. Lights blinking. Music blaring. People jumping. Cameras flashing. Everyone embracing…
something
that’s more
than just
pride.
22 million votes later…the Rose-Red city finds a place in this new world.

Congrats Jordan!
ALLAHU AKBAR, JORDAN IS FINALLY IN THE HISTORY BOOKS, I LOVE JORDAN AND I LOVE PETRA. IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT WE GET SOME RECOGNITION AND I AM GLAD THAT WE GOT SOME GOOD NEWS. BA7EBK YA URDUN.
yaaaaaaay, I am happy from here as well.. I wish I can celebrate! Go Petra Go!!!
Every Jordanian should be proud of this moment, something that is untouched and untainted, and genuinly magnificent and historical does deserve to be recoginzed as a world wonder, regardless of what UNESCO thinks. Now we must expect that this will bring more light on Petra and Jordan as a whole, its time for our tourism industry to take it to the next level. Lets celebrate today and enjoy the moment but tomorrow we have a bigger responsibility to preserve this treasure and capitalize on this “fact”.
Alf Mabrook for all! I am sooooooooo happy 🙂
We should celebrate for months 😛
First of all ,,before we start congratulate our selves ,we must recognize the original people who built this, and as far as I know,we , Jordanians or Jordan did not build this ,it is after all,the Nabateans ad more accurately the poor Nabateans that built this magnificent City ,so before , we dance and scream, I urge all of to thank the poor people of Nabetea,
Thanks for the videos, they really give a glimpse of the great atmosphere and action! looks like tons of fun 🙂
Personally, my wish is for the day Jordan qualifies for the FIFA World Cup… that’s one street celebration I’d never miss!
God bless jordan and jordanians, Petra is jordanian and everyone who loves jordan is jordanian, Period.
Loooooooooooool @ alurduinalhurr… what is your deal man??? Can’t you just swallow it for once??? minshan allah, if you don’t want to celebrate, dont! ma 7ada jabrak! But allow us, the rest who are and consider themselves Jordanians to celebrate. efttttt sho fe nas nikdeen!
And sa7eee7, do you have a phone number for a Nabatean? If you do, I’d be more than delighted to give them the best news ever! I am sure, if they hear this news they will start a dankeh ring, right infront of the treasure :D.. imagine how cool that would be, a mixed Nabatean Jordanian dabkeh? cooool sa7 😀
My real congratulation to the Jordanian people on the release of the dean of Jordanian prisoners سلطانالعجلونيin Zionist jail
alurdunialhurr: please don’t be a killjoy. relax a bit. this isn’t a serious topic, it’s celebratory. simple.

Yahoo! When I woke up hearing fireworks last night, I knew Petra was in!! Now that old stones are making Jordan famous, may it’s people, the living stones really show the world what Jordan is made of.
Kinzi ,,don’t you start being a racist, what makes different from Syrian ,lebanese ,Saudi or Sudani?????
After all what are you made of??
Congratulations to us all. What a beautiful day. I wish I was in Jordan celebrating with the rest of the Jordanians. Petra deserves this. This recognition has been long overdue. It has finally happened. Thansk to all who voted for our Petra!
What Al Urduni Al Hurr does not know is that Nabateans were one of the richest and most prosperous states in the near east and they were never poor. And while watching the ceremony, I realized that Jeniifer Lopez’s body should have been selected as one of the new 7 wonders.
Congratulations to all Jordanians! I’m happy for you guys!
Nas, as usual, been checking your past posts and it’s still a pleasure reading your blog from time to time. Salam!
😀
Oh ya Batir,,do you really believe that the rich elites carved the stones of Petra Yet our picture of urban life remains incomplete: the lives documented so far are those of the merchant and ruling elites. The stories of ordinary Nabataeansâ€â€people who lacked gold jewelry, whose houses were mud brick and whose pottery was coarse and unpaintedâ€â€are yet to be told.
It is definitely a tribute to the people who carved this city in stone, that the product of their hard work is recognized as one of the top 7 wonders of the world thousands of years after they had delivered it.
Congrats on a well deserved victory! 🙂
By the way, Naseem, your broadcasting of the event is so much better than the JTV’s one! LOL!
