The Chuck Taylor All Star from Converse is probably the most famous all-American sneaker and used to be my sneaker of choice back in the 90’s. But then of course Converse was bought by Nike and they started manufacturing them in sweatshops somewhere in Asia. So it seemed a bit wrong to buy a pair of shoes for 60 bucks that was made by some kids who got paid $1 a month.
Nevertheless I did find these commercials interesting that continue to be played on MTV. It’s basically people directing their own little 24 second commercials that “celebrate the spirit of Converse” (before economies of scale). So if you’ve got nothing to do and want to be entertained for a while, tou can check them out www.ConverseGallery.com
Rest in peace Chuck Taylor.
